Congratulations to Machdoc - Complete 1972T Set!

Congratulations on finishing your 1972 set!

All PSA8s with only three lower. Quite an accomplishment.

Congrats Steve! (And stop making me jealous of your acquisitions.)
  • Thanks Mike! My set has 14 PSA 9's (mostly Cincinnati Reds players), two PSA 7's, and one PSA 6. I hope to replace the cards below 8 as they become available. The set has an overall 8.02 GPA, but one upgrade will kick up up into the rarified air of 8.03....

Some of the folks I need to thank include Erik Jarvi, Neil Downey, and Mickey's Spprtscards, who got me over the hump on the last four tough cards. Board members including John Constantino were extremely helpful in getting some of those near-impossible to get cards such as the Barton IA.

Right now I am working on a 1959 and 1973 set, both just below 60% complete, and will have one other vintage set I'll be listing soon.

Thanks folks and hopefully I'll see some of you at the Fort next weekend!

    Nice Job Steve!

We all know that a set this large can be a booger! But, you had to finish it with 2 or 3 other SERIOUS collectors nearing or over 90% at the same time! Great job!

Great job Steve. It's always fun to check off a set from the "needed" list isn't it? Good luck on your '59 and '73 sets.

WOW...usually it takes 10 upgrades to accomplish that feat.

    Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hey machdoc,

congrats on the set! nice job, a seemingly daunting task by all accounts. just curious did you win the GARRETT mickeys had last night? i figured it may have been someone who was close to the finish line.
  • Thanks all!

Carlos - I'm just a teeny fraction below the hallowed 8.03 GPA, so that any upgrade will push me over that long-awaited holy grail!!

Highend - Yep, that was me on the Garrett, and also on the McRae IA. Believe me, it was a loooooong week waiting for those two auctions to end!!!!

Larry - It is a great view from the top of the mountain, but I hear footsteps getting louder and louder......it might get more crowded soon.......

  • Congratulations Steve! It is quite an accomplishment. I haven't been able to do much with my '72 set in a few months due to holiday financial constraints, but hope to join the fray soon. Keep up the good work and also congrats on your 1974 Topps set as well!
