Hi Guys
@ed.. I sent the card to SGC, it also came back trimmed.. I figured what the heck and sent it back to BGS. I just received a email showing the card grades. What do you think it graded?? How about a BGS 8 with 8/8/8.5/8.5 subs. Two grading companys said it was trimmed, BGS said it was NM-MT.. Like I said, I'm not sure what to think.. I just wanted to pass this on.. Seems very very bad on Becketts end..

I had the same experiences with Beckett graded cards (BGS and BVG), when I cracked and crossed a bunch of my older off brand cards, I had terrible luck with 80% of my Becketts. Lots of wrinkles, trimmed, sheet cut, etc. and when they did go through they almost always went down a grade. Their holders flaten the corners of the card... which tends to hide minor lifting or fraying.
I know the new card guys seem to like them... but in my opinion, if they can't catch a trim job on a 30 year old card... then I would have even less confidence in them catching a 2004 card trim job.
I guess they are still riding on the power of their name.

puts you in an ethical dilemma doesn't it?
you know it's trimmed but you have a few hundred dollars or so locked up in it...
I guess if a BGS enthusiast buys it... then it's not such an ethical dilemma. or is it?

I personally have a card that I had graded by PSA that came back in a 2 holder!!! You can imagine my surprise, especially since I sent it in thinking at worst that it was a 7...great corners...no creases...50/50 centering front and back...it's unreal...I'd be proud to put this card into any 7 or 8 set...it's that good...

I would love to see a scan of that PSA 2 if you can post it.
A couple of years ago, I sent a 1955 Topps Warren Spahn to BVG and it got a 2! I resubmitted to PSA and it got 4. Turns out that I missed a surface wrinkle on the back. But still - two whole grades. From what I have read, BGS and BVG grade trimmed cards, but sometimes, there grades on mid-grade cards is flat out crazy.
