Hockey Guys: Please help me check my eyes

Check out this auction.

My eyes may be deceiving me but is this card trimmed or what? I've been noticing the seller bidding very high on these C55's and then trying to sell even higher.

He may be a reputable guy...I really don't know. His feedback stinks of late. Any thoughts or knowledge of him or this card to share?

I just can't believe PSA would put this card in this holder. God knows they've never treated me this well..... and that's a good thing for cards like this.

  • I knew he was mentioned here before but I couldn't remember in what context.

Any thoughts on the card or just more sarcasm?

  • Yo Murc,

Considering the fate of my '39 OPC do you still have those graded HOF'ers to sell? I know we spoke about Schriner but I don't remember the price of the top of my head. Any others?

Here is feedback you left this seller " It took over 5 weeks but it got here. Buyer gosoxbosox( 833) Sep-11-03 14:37 Private" Thats a long time to come from Astoria to NJ

    1) Everyone knows Murcefan is a very fortunate person to be banned from Gottabuyit$'s auctions"image
2)I dont feel the card is trimmed based on the scan
    3) I wouldnt deal with this guy ever again no matter what the card or how good of the deal
    4) if your bored check out his feedback under some of this other ebay id's >>> positve-feedback or the-biddler or ttteeee44 (this is the account he uses to shill his own auctions)

Great detective work. What did I buy?

I find #4 of particular interest. That says a lot about him and that's what I was looking for. I've seen him a lot more over the past few weeks/months. I really don't remember a big presence from him before that.

Yes, it is. Thanks for noticing. OC? Please. If you're gonna take shots at us it might help to know the grading standards.

Wow all i asked is what you thought..ladies gossip what are you talking about?

    I actually don't think it's trimmed, Tom.

    imageimageimageimageimageimage
  • Me either..
  • Alls I said is he's wrong that it's not OC. Apparently PSA agrees with me.

Another internet tough guy. You've a lot to say about me. Pretty funny for someone who doesn't know me. Why don't you ask those that do?

  • I just think the top border is shorter than the bottom border..sorry you dont feel that way
  • you killed the link in your edit
  • OC is O = Off, C = CUT. Not Off Center.

  • I suppose you could be right but the lingo page on psa home page says
    O-Pee-Chee
Topps’ Canadian counterpart that manufactures baseball and hockey cards.

    obverse
The front of the card displaying the picture.

    OC (off-center)
Type of qualifier. The card exhibits centering that falls below the minimum standard for the grade. For example, a card that meets the standard for Mint 9, but has 65.35 centering would be designated Mint 9oc.
    See Also -- Qualifier

    SAYS OFF_CENTER not OFF-CUT..

I suppose if psa agreed with you the card would have a qualifer? I thought psa had qualifiers..maybe Im wrong..I didnt think this card had a qualifer just a psa 2..I will go check again

  • << <i>OC is O = Off, C = CUT. Not Off Center. >>

go look at the psa lingo page under o it is off center not off-cut
  • This is fun...you're too easy.

BTW, who's Scott Nelson? I never heard of him or you, nor did I hammered you in another thread. You must have me confused with somebody else.

I believe you jumped on this thread and called me a whiner. This is my first contact with you that I know of.....EVER.

Trust me ....nothing said here could kill me. Many people on these deal with me and know I always keep my word. Always. This threads purpose was to simply ask peoples opinions on Dunderdale because it looks trimmed to me. Obviously others feel it's not. That's why I asked. If it isn't than the holder is bigger than the one's I have my C55's in.

Do you want me to keep playing mind games with you or have you had enough?

edited to say: BTW, I'm not as you as you give me credit for being and my "mama's" been dead for years.

    he typed:
where the hell is my gang when i need them

still hasnt acknowledged that he was wrong on the off-cut part a man fesses up to his mistakes

  • << <i>1. Quit staring threads negatively about people

    3. you made a mistake and hammered me on the off-cut when it is off-centered

    To answer your four questions.
    1. Read my first post. It was to ask people about somebody I know nothing about. Not a negative post.
    2. You actually believe #2? Plenty of trimmed cards get graded.
    3. Wrong. If you really think I don't know what OC means you're showing how little you know about me. It was an easy way to get you in a huff. It worked.
    4. Sue me. I dare ya. You may not like my opinions but that's we do here. if you don't like I suggest you leave as fast as you got here.

One more peice of advice. You seem to be the one slamming respected members around here like Hubcap. Hubcap is a credible source in THIS forum. You are not.

Sheesh, sandlot, maybe if you took a minute to go back &
check, you'd notice that gosox didn't even reply to the
"deal with Scott Nelson" thread. In fact, I hadn't even
read that thread until you pointed it out, and now I know
that you might be a dealer I should avoid. And if you had
a sense of humor you'd realize that his "off cut" comment
was a JOKE! I mean, Red Sox fans are about as sharp as marbles,
but they're not THAT dumb! image

Okay...okay...it was all in good fun until that comment image Like I just said to CW.....there's a lot of truth in that statement.

This forum is divided amongst Sox and Yankee fans. Hey Murcer...glad to say this guys with you!!!

  • yawie99yawie99 Posts: 2,575 ✭✭✭
It does look a little short, but I don't think that's necessarily an indication that it's trimmed. Variability in size is fairly common with C cards.

At least one persons see's I might of had a point. But it could just be the holder that throws me off.
