1982 Lincolns

Besides weighing them, how do you tell the difference between a Copper and a Zinc Linc? And how do you tell the difference between Small and Large date? Pictures would be appreciated... Thank you! image

  • Drop them on a wood table. Copper has a distinctive ring. Zinc thuds.

I can't locate the photos from coppercoins' site.

If I remember correctly, the large date has the same type of numerals as the 1981 cent. The style of the small date is like the 1983 cent.

Also, the large date's "2" is very close to the rim, while the small date is further away.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

  • Which is more rare? Large or Small? Zinc or Copper
  • Thx, that helped, already found a Copper Large Date... image

Large date D mint copper is the most common followed by the copper large date Philly mint.

The two small date Philly mint coins are the toughest to find, especially the zinc.
