PSA Customer Service answer on Turn Times

I just called PSA customer service and they told me they calculate turnaround times based on the date they actually check the submission in to the system, not the date they receive the submission at Newport Beach.

I thought that was interesting. So based on the current happenings around check-in delays does that raise any eye-brows around here?

I'm not saying PSA is trying to avoid missing turn times since they're current very busy by delaying check-in, but the thought crosses my mind. I mean....when they finally get around to checking in the submissions why wouldn't they just use the retroactive date they received the submission? That only seems fair to me.

Wait til the post office hears this. They can claim 3 minute wait during the Christmas holidays.

They start the clock when you reach the counter, not the line.

    carew4me,
I agree, I'll take the $5 special....I can wait. If someone needs it faster, pay the extra.

I beleive they are still hittin turnaround times even if you add the time to be entered. If something misses, then it is an easy complaint to joe o that the order didn't get entered for a week. I believe his thread addressed this and empasized they are still far exceeding turnaround times. best of luck to everyones grades

That is the dumbest comment I've ever heard. What kind of an anology is that? I had "reached the counter" when they received my cards. Like I said in previous threads on this topic, I'm not saying this because I'm worried about something of mine being "late". I just think it's pretty hard to miss a turn around time if you calculate this way. That's all.

I agree with packCollector. They may be hitting turn times anyway, I don't really know.

  • I think it is unreasonable to think that they should log orders the day they receive them. No doubt they got bogged down with all the submissions at the last minute. They offer us a $5/card special which significantly less than normal submission fees, so many people are taking advantage of it. Logging it into the system starts the grading process. If they miss the 35 days after logging, then these complaints are warranted. Until then though, it seems to me like looking a gift horse in the mouth. As Dhjacks said, if you want them back faster, pay the extra $.

Under the current registry special, PSA guarantees a turnaround of 35 business days. Even if one calculates the start time at the arrival of your package (as opposed to entry into the system), how many turnaround guarantees have they missed???? Has anyone considered that even if you go from the date the order was received, they're STILL meeting/exceeding their turnaround guarantees???

My last order of 50 cards - received by PSA on 2/9. . . .entered into system 2/13. . .grades posted 2/19. . .order shipped on 2/20. . .by my calculations, that's 9 whole business days from receiving the order to shipping my order.

Until the delay in order entry starts to become a factor in missed turnaround guarantees, I think your energy is best spent almost anywhere other than worrying about this.

PSA is hitting the turnaround times, but at the buzzer. I got to give it them, they are producing very efficiently right now. Good for them. The only problem is the mail runner is going to the post office every other day.

  • Just a reminder for everyone out there.

Please mark the service level on the outside of the package where it is easily seen.
We've always asked that people do this but the majority don't.
The reason behind this, if you have an express order that is clearly marked, the receiving department can grab that package first.
Also, we are doing everything possible to get caught up as quickly as possible.

thanks carol, since the packages are meeting expectations even with the delay in input, this is really a non issue. PSA is doing a fantastic job

  • i have an order of 85 cards that hasn't been logged in yet but i know i will receive the grades within the 35 days. my last submission of 45 cards was delayed in being logged but i still had my grades in less than 20 days including a holiday weekend . at 5 bucks a card including stars. i certainly can't complain. i would wait 45 days. so far this month i've paid out 1000 bucks and had two hundred cards graded or pending grading, not to shabby....... and furthermore the consistency is there as well , only a few cards i felt were either over or undergraded. nice job!!
  • I live in So Cal...so I can go on 1st Saturdays...acutally on any day and take my card in personally...which I have and do...the first time in...I bought the 10 day turnaround package...and when 10 days past...I figured that my cards would be done...wrong...even thought I personally delivered them on Saturday...they were not checked into the "system" until Thursday...you do the math...why? What happened to my 10 days?

  • $5 special/week's wait to be entered, or $6 regular/immediate entry...I'll save the 100 bucks (or 250 for my order that'll ship today) and wait an extra week. Personal preference.
  • purelyPSA,

I agree. I'll take saving money over saving time any time.

  • What I am wanting to know is if the graders work on weekends so they can attempt to catch up with the present and obvious backlog. My cards, under the guise of Express service, have been in the hopper for one month now, only opened and logged in last Thursday.image
