coin world article on California gold bars being fake
What happened to all the people that were saying these gold bars were real
. It seems like the SS central America hoard has helped prove many to be recent fakes. mike

i read that story when my copy first arrived and was really intrigued by the way the researcher/writer worked out the logic with the weights and serial numbers. i agree with your statement that the new bars which they know are genuine helped uncover the forgeries from the 1950's that had been accepted. great stuff when someone comes along with the passion for his area of study and digs deep.
hey, i thought it was high on the cool meter and i don't even collect that kind of stuff.

<< <i>The article was one of the best ever in CW. Very interesting. >>
I agree Andy, it was a good read even for people like me that don't collect them and don't know much about them. Anyone care to fill in the story about the lawsuits and such from a few years ago that was an ongoing topic in the coin newspapers? What happened? Did someone win in court or did it get thrown out? mike
Is there any way I could get a copy of that article?
