I always thought I was the only one that liked them. Now it seems that I'm noticing a lot more topics about them. Peace dollar this, peace dollar that. VAM this cheek mark that.
Part of me thinks its neat
Part of me wants you guys going after Peace Dollars to to switch to Moderns or Barbers or SBAs.
Whats with the spike in interest? Or am I just imagining things.

They are my favorite but still not a series collected as I thought they would be in this market...
which is a good thing as they are very difficult to find nice.

I, for one, am glad to see more about them here. I've recently begun to collect toned Peace dollars, and I'm always happy to read any info about them.
I'm surprised that more people aren't into them. Really, it's the best dollar that you could ever afford. Sacs and SBA's are horrid, and even the revered Morgan dollar has a look only a mother could love. Clearly, as I have said before, Peace dollars rule!!!
As far as pricing..... I recently saw a 1923@6 on ebay go for $ 720. The same coin, same holder, same grade with less eye appeal (that was just below the other auction) didn't even get a bid at $ 480.... So, you can plainly see that great eye appeal is king...... Here is a list of what has moved more than 20% over the past 5-10 months:
1921
Common dates MS-65
1928
1928-s
1934-s (a little)
Many of you know I collect the 28... This is one of the hardest to come by blast in my opinion... so let's have some fun..... lets say you are in the market for a 1928 PCGS MS-64 coin. You look at the population report and find that they have graded about 1000 at that level. Because we all know that pop reports are way off due to resubmitting (the next grade is $ 3,500) we'll be safe and take half or 500 as a true count.... Now take that 500 and take away all of the people with strong hands.... registry sets..... and you are most likely left with about 400 coins in that holder in that grade floating around...... From my searches over the past 3 years, I've come to find that I have to go through about 10-15 coins in this grade/slab before I find one that has good/great eye appeal. That means... out of the 400 available.... 40-50 are outstanding. 40-50..... which isn't a lot at all.... Take into account that to VIEW 15 coins for sale in this grade/slab will take you about 8-12 months..... I could sit here and tell you where i think the price is going on this coin but I wont......
Pqdollars (which I encourage everyone to visit their web site) carries the highest quality coins in this series IMHO.... so check them out... they have found just one 1928 Peace dollar for me over the past 2 years after attending every major show.... that tells you a lot about the supply going by-by......
Enjoy the hobby.... whatever you collect......
So when I got this months Coin World with the "Coin Values supplement inside I was shocked at some of the prices now listed.
Many, if not all dates, have risen in value. The shocker to me was the 1927-s in MS 65 at $14,000. I saved my MS 65 when I bought my MS66, several years ago, and I was under the impression a PCGS MS 65 1927-s was worth maybe $7500 today. So if Peace Dollars are "Slow ", why the big increase in prices ??
Other than a few dates, they are still pretty affordable.
Since there are only 24 dates/mms it woud'nt be real hard to make a complete set.I've thought about making a set myself.
Truly an underrated coin.IMHO.
and they're cold.

I, personally, don't have much interest in them. I do like the reverse, but the obverse does nothing for me.
I only have 3 (since a couple were stolen from our home 2 decades ago....my grandmother's birthyear) that I got from my uncle in trade for some software he wanted.
1921, 1922, 1923
RAW MS63, PCGS64, PCGS65 I believe are the years and grades.
I am keeping them right now, but haven't increased my coinage in that area....again, I just don't see much that I want there...maybe more people feel like me and that is why they are under appreciated?
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
I've certainly noticed that over the last few months the supply of PQ coins has either dried up or is priced out of sight. I would like to believe that collectors in general have taken note of the series, but I'm more inclined to think the run up is in parallel with the rest of the coin market. Actually, I don't really want more competition in the market; it's hard enough as it is to upgrade my collection....
