aNYONE EVER SUSPECT BGS HOLDERS TRIMMED CARDS??

Just a note:

The incident involving Kevin Burge and the trimmed Prior card which went from BGS 9 to Pristine 10 is the most notorious example.

Considering the source, I have heard that there are those out there quite proficient with "micro-sawing" modern chrome cards for the inevitable 9.5's & 10's.

I have no doubt as to why their preference is BGS over PSA because the latter would flip it back with evidence of trimming.

I don't think evidence of trimming is in the BGS vocabulary.

  • So your telling me PSA catches all the trimmed cards?!?! Please...I posted a thread here awhile back with a guy who submitted a batch of SPX cards with a high percentage as "Evidence of trimming". Now to see evidence of trimming on modern cards....it's pretty rare. But some of the cards in there slipped through and got the PSA 10 grade making it worth it for this dealer (sell the rejected cards or regrade them with BGS or resubmit to PSA).

I posted that thread questioning this dealer (his submission was over 60 SPX cards with around 55 of them Trimmed). Bet you some of the ones that slipped through had some sort of work done on them.

There is on question that BGS does grade cards cut from sheets and cards that are doctored. Some guys are just real good and touching up cards. But PSA has graded a lot of altered cards too.

7 MVP awards, the single season HR record, career walks record, single season walks record, 700HR/500SB, and two batting titles near 40 years old. How can one argue that those aren't stats of the greatest to ever play the game??? All this and there is still more to come!!!! Bonds:2005 NL MVP. Or are you going to doubt him again?

don't know about modern cards but I will say there are a lot of sheet cut cards in bgs holders in 70's hockey. I know there are a few in psa holders but I think they catch most.
  • I do know that a certain Ebay seller from Michigan that was caught purchasing lower graded cards and "working" on them and then reselling them on Ebay in higher grade (under the same user name at that). There was a thread recently on here about this seller. Some of his cards were holdered by BGS as I tracked one of his buyers of these cards and that person was turning around and selling them in BGS holders. They did not let everyone of those cards that this buyer purchased go through as some were rejected and returned to the seller as I could see through his feedback, but they did still grade about 6-7 out of probably 10-12 cards submitted.
