    hmmm....

PCGs requires that the bottom row of bell lines be full and uninterupted (with the exception of the crack in the bell) for the designation..

NGC requires all the Bell Lines, the lowers and uppers....

Here is a coin that has all the bell lines complete... they maybe alittle hard to see with the toning on this 49s ms66fbl coin:

notice that the extend the width of the bell and are full, complete and uninterupted....

Notice the boldness of the lines on this 51D MS66FBL coin...

the Lowers are very bold run from edge to edge of the bell, uninterupted and well defined...

now the lines can have a tick or two and still get the designation.... that tick better not be to severe though...

    Thanks Lucy,

Where is it most common to find the break or weakness in the lines?

To the left of the crack on the bell.....

some weakness here and you may still get the designation, but usually the non-fbl coins are very weak in this area....

and the lines are broken or are not even present.....

    Lucy and Frank,

Thank you both for your help.I am always impressed with the help that one receives from the forum members here.I find that sometimes you get more out of a couple of post on a particular subject than you do from reading a book. And of course the forum is more entertaining.image
