Upper Deck Comes Through

In mid-June 2003 I redeemed a 2003 SP Authentic Chirography Young Stars Silver HC Hee Seop Choi/50 EXCH $120.00 online. I e-mailed Upper Deck asking how long it would take for me to receive it and they replied with 6-8 weeks which is stated on the card. I waited 8 weeks and hadn't received it so I e-mailed them back and they replied saying the athlete had not signed the card yet. Another 6 weeks and they said the same thing. About this time I logged into my Upper Deck account to check the status and where the card had been listed saying "being processed" it had disappeared and under my account profile my address was blank and for country it was set to Afghanistan and it would not let me change it. Everytime I entered my address and saved it it would be blank again when I went back in. I e-mailed them saying the card had disappeared from the list of my cards being redeemed and they told me to enter the pin # again. When I did it said that the card had already been redeemed and they said they couldn't do anything for me. I waited two more months and e-mailed them and they said the cards still had not been signed by the player. Another month and they said the same thing. I just said forget it, sure it's a decent card but I'm tired of messing with it, I just said oh well and forgot all about it. Then today I receive a bubble mailer from them saying that they appreciate me being patient and trusting in their redemption process, yada yada yada, they strive to get all cards signed by players but that is not always possible, blah blah blah, they have sent me an alternate item instead and they hope I enjoy it and make it a cherished part of my collection, etc etc etc. Inside is a
2001 Upper Deck Game Jersey Autograph 2 AR Alex Rodriguez EXCH $150.00

I usually wouldn't be excited about getting an extra $30 bv but given A-Rod's current, um, "hotness" I am very pleased.

  • Thats stupid, not you, but Upper Deck! Why do they even promise these cards before they have them. And how long does it take for some no-name athlete to autograph a card,(at least I never heard of him anyway). I'd be like, "Hey man, we're paying you to sign that card, now sign it fool!" Card companies, Ugh!image
Culpepper to ?, only God knows at this point!

  • I don't know what the deal was...maybe him being a foreign-born player he spends his offseason overseas and is hard to get in touch with...maybe his trade from Chicago Cubs to Florida Marlins made the process more difficult.

Nice job by UD on that (and a much better card for you, of course). Let's face it - who would pay $120.00 for anything by Hee Sop Choi (?)...at least you got a nice pay-rod for your collection.
