Junk silver price quote

I called a local dealer today and asked him what he is paying for junk silver; I have about $500 face. He told me he would not quote prices over the phone, he has to see the coins. He was not overly polite. I don't understand why he would do that except he wants me in his shop. That's the last place I'm going to go now.

Just pessimistic speculation... maybe he would like to give you a lowball offer, which you might be more inclined to take if you already made the effort to go to the shop with all those coins. I agree with you...PASS.

dealer need to make money on everything buying and selling. face it dateless buffs and SLQ, common date silver g or less ain't worth much. the dealer has to put them in 2x2 and throw them into the bargan basket where maybe they will sell or maybe they set in the basket forever
