Wow. It's an $1,800.00 coin but the Seller can't remember if it used to be housed in a PCGS or ICG holder before it was DOWNgraded with NTC?

That's what got me. If I had busted out a PCGS MS66 85-CC and sent it to a third tier grading company, and it came back downgraded a point, I sure wouldn't forget which slab it was in. PCGS 66 85-CCs are going for around $1600 right now, so if I had taken a $1100 loss I would sure remember it.

Of course, the bottom line here is this fabrication did not take place, and the coin is most likely a 63 or maybe if you are lucky a 64. With that image there is no way to tell, but I have seen enough NTC Morgans to know it isn't what it is labeled as.

HMMMMMMMMMMMM!! A NTC would have to be a 68 or better to grade the same as a PCGS 66.

Yea NTC is better that PCGS.

Last night I had a chance to buy a NTC 67FB Merc at about 20% of what a PCGS coin would go for. Did I jump ? Not a chance because the coin at the 20% price was still over priced and way, way over graded.

Yeah, NTC is tougher than PCGS in selling cars.

    Tom,

I would even be surpised if an NTC 68 made 65 at PCGS. Most of the NTC graded morgans I have seen lately in the 62-64 range were AU-58's and unholderable due to cleaning, impaired luster, etc. at PCGS. I have seen a few high grade NTC morgans that would even make 65.
