Any idea what is going on with this coin?

This is a clean 89P Lincoln LDS that is showing a wild spread on the E in WE and a die break(?) on the W. It is a 65+ Rd coin that shows no other varieties obv. or rev. Any ideas? imageimageimageimageimage

i would say its a form of mechanical or strike doubling.
late die state coins lend themselfs to this type of doubling
    as a matter of course.
it could be called die deterioration doubling or abrasion doubling.

    nice find

You could send it to Jim Wiles, attributor for CONECA, who would give you an opinion for a nominal fee. My guess would be machine doubling, but it's still very interesting. How did you make the nice high-magnification photos?

Thank you all for the replies. I got those pics on one of those Digital Blue magnifiers. It is the QX3 model and it is nice, but it is not in the same league as a real microscope. Someday I will treat myself and get myself a real model. As for that coin, I assume it must be MD, but it sure is odd MD if that is what it is. The rest of the coin is clean. Odd.
