Local auctions and coins

Man,

I got a new job at work and love it, but, now I actually WORK...mixed blessings. In my old spot, I had tons of free time.
So, in the last few weeks, I have had 2 out of town (country even) last minute trips and no time to go anywhere but home<->work image

Just so happens that this coming week is a couple of days of auctions from abandoned safe deposit boxes. Tuesday is preview day, Wednesday is day 1 with jewely and some coins. Thursday (day2) has gold coins, and a lot of morgans.

Dilemma....lot of work to do on Tuesday and Wednesday and out of town Thurs/Fri for a last minute trip again.
So, should I sacrifice some work for the Tues preview and the Weds chance at some coins?
Are they usually worth it or not worth it you think?

I haven't been to an auction in YEARS and then it was for cars, so I am not sure.

Let me know please...for those that have gone or would go. I am so torn image

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Go to work. It is your obligation, and at the very least, it helps support your coin collecting hobby. Chances are the good stuff from the boxes has already been cherrypicked.

and, I can't even be mean to Russ cuz I won one of his auctions (my birthyear kennedy) and I haven't received (nor even paid for ) it yet....

Russ....IM me and I may tell you image...but, you have deeper pockets and more knowledge image You will hog them all and I would get nothing image

Local auctions in most cases (like 95%) are rigged against you. If you like buying the high priced reserved problem coins of local dealers then by all means attend.

Go to work knowing that you missed nothing and did the right thing. While you could indeed miss a bargain, the other dogs you buy in haste will FULLY counter your efforts. Just my own experiences from attending local auctions over the past 28 years.
I could easily have survived passing on all of them. What do they say about Santa Claus and numismatics?
