It is plain, but I like it. Not a bunch of clutter.

It is much better than the stupid Wisconsin cow!

Sweet and simple always looks best.

  • Will this design take us down the road of a "Full Star" designation?

    yeeup, everythings bigger in texas.
look at the size of that quarter will ya?
    its bigger than my hand.........

there it just looks like a crummy pencil drawing
but i,m sure it will look alittle better when we see the
    actual product.
i,m luke-warm on the fanfare for this design.
its just ok and not great...from the crummy pencil drawing.....
i,ll give it a reluctant thumbs up..hows that.

  • Looks OK to me. If we were to make our coins to please everyone, we would only mint one of each of 25 t0 50 million different different ones!
  • Its too simple and just ugly!

I think the design will work out well in person.

Some of the other states have tried to cram too much detail, the quarter is only so big.

Arkansas and New Hampshire designs have a lot going on and for the average person difficult to decipher therefore hard to appreciate.
  • I like it. One of the most beautiful designs in American coinage IMO was the 1837 Seated half dimes and dimes. No clutter, clean fields, classic. When the Connecticut quarter design came out, I was impressed. No clutter, just a tree! Gimme a bold central design and forget all the extra crap.

  • I'll bet it will be tough to get a good grade with one - too much open range.
  • 'Tis better than some, not as good as others. All in all I'll give it a thumbs up. image

I like it, and I suspect that when the coin is struck (especially in Proof DCAM Silver) the opposite-facing facets of the star are going to create a very pretty sight!
    When in doubt, don't.
  • I was thinking the same thing. That design will lead to some NICE Cameos. image

compared to most of the crap that has come out and passed for state quarters I like it along with CT and MS.

  • Ahhhh..... the Dallas Cowboys quarter - with the star centered over Texas Stadium. Probably won't be too popular up North........in fact, I heard the Philly mint workers plan not to make 'em.

I agree. CT and MS are two of my favorite designs.

  • Considering some of the other Texas design choices (www.quarterdesigns.com), this one isn't too bad.

A bit predictable though....state outline & big star. How 'bout some history instead, like why Texas is called "the lone star state"?
