Submission Question

in PCGS Set Registry Forum
Infrequent poster but constant lurker looking for advice on submitting a coin to PCGS.

1. It is currently in an NGC holder and I am wish to cross it over, I assume I should break it out beforehand?

2. Does it matter if I send it in myself or should I do it through a dealer?

Appreciate any learned responses.

    Welcome,

    It depends a lot on what you are trying to accomplish and the coin? The safest way is to go with the crossover. imho. There is no guarantee that the coin will go back into a holder if you crack it out. Grading standards change over the years and what may have been slabbed at NGC once upon a time may not get slabbed by PCGS or NGC now.

    Also depends on the type and value of the coin. The service level, shipping in and back, if you are a gold or platinum member all also make a difference.
