What does PCGS Mean when they give you a DNC?

It says that it does not cross over. Why would a coin not cross over? it's in a holder, it's a coin, you break it out like any other coin, and grade it--what am I missing here? Are they saying that the grade was too low to cross over or what? I'm confused and a bit frustrated.

Could be damaged, cleaned, etc.

If you don't put a min grade they will only cross it at the same grade or higher.
If they find problems they won't cross it.

Perro, it means that for any number of reasons, PCGS is unwilling to cross the coin into one of their holders at the same grade (and designation, like PL, FB, etc., if applicable).

Perhaps they grade it lower than the other company, perhaps they think it has been cleaned or altered, that the color is questionable, etc. - any number of reasons.

They once said they would tell you why it did not cross but apparently haven't been doing so recently. Give them a call and ask to know what the reason was. You paid good money for the service so there is no reason why you shouldn't ask why.

If you tried to "cross @ any grade" & it didn't, then it has some kind of problem which precludes it from holdering.
Other wise it didn't meet the grade you specified or has problems.
