WOW!! #1 MS STATE QUARTER SET JUST GOT GREATER - CONGRATS DONN MURPHY!!

I just took a look at what #1 has been doing this year in MS State quarters:

1. Every 2003 "p" and "d" quarter in PCGS-MS68 (mostly "homemade")!

2. Another year 2000 dated State quarter in PCGS-MS69!! Just (2) states in 2000 have an MS69 graded quarter, Mass & SC and Donn now has an example of them both (Mass has graded "p" and "d" incidently)!!

Donn, I know everyone is on the lookout for you for a DEL(d) or PA(d) quarter in MS68.

Congrats on an incredible collection! image

P.S. Quite a bit of action in this series of late - many new players trying to put together a top 10 set these days.

    I could see DE-D MS68 (pop 1) is in Douglas Rall's set.

Mitch, I concur - the series is heating up again. I figured it would go up and down in the near term and in the long haul stay up and grow at a more steady value rate due to the huge collector base.

Donn, you are the master quarter guy. Wait till 2005 when California comes out. I hear a rumor that they have put Mitch on the obverse surfing a wave of quarters or possibly panning for gold.

The hobby has been mostly ignoring these coins and leaving it to the newbies to
collect and preserve them. It will be interesting to see the long term results of this.

It will also be interesting to see what the prices will be on the states being minted
recently compared to the other coins in MS-60.

This market should rumble over the next 10 months as MI, FL, TX, and CA become
    available.

  • Thanks Mitch, Mark, and Mark for your recognition on this board. And thanks to the rest of you guys who have been sending me pm's and email congratulations. I just love the challenge of finding high grade quarters in this series. If anyone ever has upgrades of any coins in my set, please do not hesitate to contact me. Without the help of dealers, fellow collectors, and friends my set would not be what it is today. Thanks.
