  • The photo makes it look like it's been dipped so no grade from PCGS, detail-wise it looks to be AU50 or so....

    No Grade - cleaning

Edited to add: Looks like the PCGS XF that is up on eBay right now. I'm looking for this date in that grade, but it is obviously one that PCGS let get into a slab because of the date.

difficult to grade by photo, but I tend to agree with you guys...AU50ish but cleaned.

    Hold on to your seats......Linker

this coin must have been circulating in an 'all-gloved' community back in the good ole days.

good eye K6. I'm also looking for a 95-o to replace the one usps lost on the 7th.

When I clicked on the link, 'PCGS 1895-O XF45'.....this was the last thing i expected to see. honestly thought it was a hoax at first.

PCGS does this on a handful of dates, the 79-CC, 89-CC, 93-O, 93-S, 94, 95-O and 95-S. They will slab coins they would body bag if they were any other date. In this case, we are looking at a polished AU coin that PCGS has "net graded" to XF 45. This is a disgrace and ought to be an embarassment to PCGS. It's also why I will not buy the few remaining dates I need sight unseen, I want a problem free coin, not one that has been net graded in the blind.

I couldn't agree more!...If I wanted a net graded coin, which, by the way, I don't...I'd send it or buy a ANACS specimen. If PCGS starts doing like anacs,...."There goes the neighborhood."
What is money, in reality, but dirty pieces of paper and metal upon which privilege is stamped?
