Anybody here ever been burned on presell boxes before?? i mean did you not get the product? Or did you get an excuse saying i didnt get what i ordered and they refund your money?? then these guys are floating money and this is illegal isnt it?
This guy is stating he will have this product shipped by the 21st of march bc that would be 30 days! it doesnt release until the 7th of april!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know what you would do - you're a businessman and would make this up to your customer in spades!!But you are dealing here with a stranger and yes I agree, he may be playing with your money and yes, maybe, if the product goes through the roof, you'll never see it, save a refund. But what else can you do?

yeah but he is guaranteeing spelling way off i know! 30 days! so i can sit here and tell you there is no way this can happen! it will probably still be printing on march 21st! ill bet if you buy it he will blaim it on topps. and tell you the new release date is april 7th! that gives him 6 weeks to invest your money else where! to me thats wrong!

Got ya - for a second, I thought you had bought something from him - didn't think - you don't need to.
By the way, about understanding - remember years ago in Tuff Stuff there was this guy who had the column "Points to Ponder"? Well, maybe about once a month a gen. thread like that goes out and everyone can chime in with the things you never understand - for example how come a card is mint to the seller and Ex when he is buying the same card?

I coulda sworn I read something about a March release date. I thought it was in the beckett.com article but it's not there now. Maybe it was in an auciton listing. In any case, it might have been true at one time. Topps stuff often misses the initially announced release date, especially hobby-only products that they might still be tweaking.

While "floating" is illegal, some sort of usury law violation, I think, intent is also a part of it. A lot of these guys are weekend-warrior type dealers and sometimes hot product is allocated upstream from them, so they really don't get what they had been expecting. The intent is not to sucker people into giving them interest free loans or whatever the purpose is. However, that doesn't release them from giving you what you paid for. If you pre-order $50 for a box and it is a $100 item by the time it comes out, they are still obligated to give you your box. If they have to go to the open market and pay $100 for it, that's their problem. How far you want to or are able to push them is up to you.

I did get, not burned, but gypped on a pre-sell case last year. The first case I ever bought, I won an auction for a case of Topps 205. The seller had sold many other cases, had 4-figure feedback with I think only 1 or 2 negs. I paid through Paypal and it sat there unclaimed. I started sending emails asking what was up. After a week and a half, their auctions had ended and no new ones had been started, and I started to get nervous. Negatives started hitting her feedback, based on non-communication. All the while, my payment sat there unclaimed, and I finally cancelled it. I never heard from the seller, she NARU'd, and disappeared. I think I was lucky, but was more disappointed than anything. It turned out to be for the best, as 205 wasn't as good as I hoped it would be, and I got a base set and a Polar set for about 20% of the price of the case, and probably would've lost money if I tried a crack-and-sell.
