Pro Dealer Now Selling SGC

I wias on ebay tonight and noticed a high-grade Johnston Cookies Set being offered by a PRO dealer out of NY. He has some nice stuff that he claims that were recently graded in Las Vegas by SGC. He also seems to be throwing a little dig at PSA in his description.

Has he been banned by PSA?Is he now an authorized SGC dealer (Do they have authorized dealers?)?

    Bingo,

Nothing new other than the id. The guy has been selling Psa, Sgc, and Gai for some time. Also buying under a host of other ids too.
The new thing I noticed was the dig against Psa and the high dollar value of the 'legit' cards that are being offered.

41 of his 78 auctions are psa? so how does one go about getting banned from psa? is his picture in the grading room?fingerprints on file?

"Slabbed" has some very nice looking cards on ebay.

Are all of his cards trimmed, or just some of them?

    Koby,

    Good question.

I'm sure all the cards sold by "slabbed" are fine. Otherwise, they wouldn't be in PSA, GAI and SGC holders. However, if they were altered, no one is getting any kind of discount for the altered cards as all minimum bids start at very high price points.

Has he been banned by PSA?

This guy used to be a PSA authorized dealer, but he is no longer with the company. He has sold me many raw "altered" cards in the past.

    Koby,

I hear what you are saying. I'm sure Sgc, Psa, or Gai would scoff at my reluctance to accept these cards without hesitation.
The problem is the there are genuine concerns of spending big money without thinking about the past here. We hear a lot
about how even the experts are getting fooled. I may even have trimmed cards in my sets. Who knows? While I can't eliminate
the risks of being taken in this hobby I love, I try to do the best I can to stay educated while protecting my investment and
enjoyment as best I can. So by knowing who 'slabbed' is I can say that I'm glad he is not selling anything I want right now.
    Makes for an easy pass....

  • How about a name or a link to this guys auctions so that we can all see who he/they are???

I know that there is one large PRO dealer in Long Island,New York that has been selling on eBay for a
while now and was banned from PSA a couple of years ago.

Rumors have been flying around that he bought into the ownership of PRO and that he actually slabs his own cards???

  • Being a PRO dealer is like being a porn star: no matter how you might try to wash it from your resume, it's there...in blood.

    Edited for spelling...
  • Is that the same guy who posted over here under the name "slabbed"?

Had crab legs at last year's National with the 'slabbed' that used to post here.
    He's a collector with a real job.

The 'slabbed' on ebay looks to be a full time card dealer.
I would doubt very much that they're one and the same.
