Topps Heritage 3 Box Bust

I couldn't wait to nail some of these, they didn't exactly blow me away but I wasn't looking for
auto beef in this one. Topps knows they can sell this one on just power of the base cards and
base sp's. It would of been nice to pull a graph though.

Pulled 10 chromes
3 refractors
2 Jersey's Pedro and Berkman
Bunch of short prints

I haven't gone through my cards yet to see how close I am to a set. Once again there are 100
short prints, many are rookies and the big stars. They also have the logo variations. This product
has a nice lineup of rookies. PLMK if anyone here is looking to trade their sp's as Im going to
be mainly trading to get this set as it looks like the boxes really aren't worth the price.

I may buy a couple of boxes in the next couple of days. Sorry to hear about the pulls in your boxes. Your right....you are buying the base cards and SPs....not for the game-used/autos.

The box price may fall once the GU/Auto people lose interest.

yo..anybody....what does a 2003 heritage willie mays auto (which doesnt look like it says willie mays at all) book at???? its was my only pull out of a case last year....i did get every card but 5 sp's though and the new age cards.

also...

i still need 2003 heritage NEW AGE # 4, 5, 10, 15-- does anybody have these in decent condition??

jstalin...did u ever get to end out the 10 and 15? I assume not

stalin...whats your overall feel for the 2004 heritage cards...better looking then 2003?? i know there are 4 white boards this year instead of 3.... the cards made from better stock?? are the pics more "painty" then last years clear pics (when they should have been paint-like)

Those cards went out today. You should have them by next Monday at the latest.

I really haven't sat down and studied these cards yet, there are a lot of names I don't know
which I guess is good because there are many rookies. You get an extra this year...a double header
card, which I guess was featured back in 55? There are once again three insert sets..the flashback
are beautiful, I pulled Kaline and Musial that look just like cards did in 55.

As far as the base set, I didn't see to many damage problems, I had about 4 cards out of 3 boxes
that were damaged, but none of the short prints, which like last year are in the middle of the box.
I have an unconfirmed list of short prints from Lynn at topps, again this isn't set in stone:

High Number cards #398+
Logo Variation SP's: 8 49 85 117 120 180 182 200 311 361
RC/Star SP's 2 4 28 47 50 92 123 124 164 194 198 210

There are 110 chrome parallels this year, many rookies, which is good.
GU odds are on the box, but auto odds aren't..hmmm short prints?

The cards for the most part look authentic...however there is some 2003 syndrome, where lesser
players lack the brushed look. The backs are colorful with the red/green look. It looks as though
topps has placed rookie cards in the same number places where the original 55 rookies were, and
they are also short printed. Nomar takes Ted Williams spot on the #2 card and Shawn Green
on the #210 Duke Snider card...Im sure there are other parallels to the original set too. Unlike
previous years, the checklists are actually quite rare at only 4 per box. Best not to mark these
up. Topps finally changed the design of the boxes, the have that retro look too.

This will be another beautiful set, maybe not as pretty as last years or 02's but better than
2001 in my opinion. Certainly worthy of the heritage name.

busting my first case earlier.

2 autos- team topps b.powell and thorton kipper? red ink 34/55

4 jersey cards- arod, randy johnson, baldelli, c.jones

0 grandstand glory

0 black refractor

8 #'d 955 refractors (pedro)

23 or so chrome (mostly rookies and a nomar)

80 or so of the sp's (not including dupes)

overall i am mildly disappointed, i really like the grandstand glory and was hoping for at least one black refractor. the production seemed fine a couple of wrinkles here and there, no miscuts or anything glaringly OC. i'm hoping for better results on my other case that i plan to break over the weekend.

My LCS still hasn't gotten theirs. I need the Frank Thomas, Mark Prior, and Grady Sizemore cards from this set, base cards and all the Chromes. If anyone has any, LMK, thanks.

mx- i did a 55 topps set a couple of years ago and was aware of thorton kipper, my question is why would TOPPS want to put these 80 year old scrubs in such a fine product?

I just busted 3 boxes during lunch....ran through the packs...didnt see any black refractors or autos. Did get a Tori Hunter Clubhouse Collection GU Bat as well as a Maddux Chrome Refractor (#555).

With the help of Beckett Marketplace dealer Jay Conti (jayscards.com) - who broke four cases of 2004 Topps Heritage (32 boxes) the first day it was live - a list of short prints and variations has been compiled and subsequently confirmed as accurate by Topps.

highend - they included the scrubs because there aren't too many living superstars from the '55 set to include autographs from and still have a realistic shot at obtaning an autograph without the pack prices going through the roof.

Koufax won't sign due to his displeasure with the Dodgers, so if you just included major stars, you're left with Killebrew, Aaron, Mays, Berra, Snider, Banks, Kaline, Rizzuto, and Monte Irvin (and maybe Skowron, Podres, Al Rosen, Don Zimmer, Chuck Tanner, Hank Bauer, Labine, and Sain). If those were the only signers, there probably would be great difficulty in finding an autographed card.

The same thing happened with Jason GIambi -- Heritage was the first brand to have him in the NYY uni and it went for about $20 for a period of time...

Check on how Kenny Perez is expected to do this year before you list it. If he is competing for a major league starting job, hold off on it for just a bit and list it later in spring training.
