It looks very thick. Perhaps it's a coronation medal? I wonder if IR is James, Rex?

"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you." -Luke 11:9
"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might." -Deut. 6:4-5
"For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; He will save us." -Isaiah 33:22
But what is a brass coin weight? Is it used on a set of scales to determine if a coin is real or not?
If this one says XXII S, could that mean 22 shillings? If so, what coin weighs 22 shillings?

I haven't studied brass weights in depth, but I am pretty sure they were set on scales to verify the stated weight on the brass piece, in gold or silver. (Was that clear as mud?). I had a 1700's one with what looked like a bust of George I on the front and "12 Shillings" on the back.

Coach's theory sounds good to me.
