Vintage vs modern collectors on this board

I usually check this board the most. I've noticed that most of the discussion centers around vintage (pre '75) sets. Just curious what the ratio is for vintage vs modern set collectors on this board.

Should "vintage" be 1980 and before ? The end of the Topps only era and the final year only one card was a true rookie card.
Should 'vintage" be 1973 and before ? The last year sets were issued via several series.
Should "vintage" be 1971 and before ? The PSA grading special cutoff.
Should "vintage" be 1956 and before ? The last year prior to the standard size now used by all companies.
Should "vintage" be pre WW2 ? The era before most of today's companies existed.
It is a matter of choice and taste and our own frame of references. The general public seems to feel most items 25 years old or more, like the 1979 sets just became, are "vintage". Most of us have some interest, if not activity, in all eras or time peroids. I would hope the thread might be better titled modern AND vintage collectors on this board.

Vintage implies rarity as well as age. Vintage is pre-1968 because that is when the over-production began.

I agree that "and" sounds better than "vs.", jaxxr. It's a little
strange how the card hobby doesn't really have a general, agreed-upon
dividing point between modern & vintage. I know it's been discussed
here many times, but that might make a good poll. I'll go with toppsgun's
theory for now because he usually knows his card stuff, he went to UofM,
and his icon is scaring the bejeezus outta me.
<< <i>Currently, I only have 1975, so I guess the answer is "neither". >>
Vargha, I think that means you're "agnostic".
Tough question when you talk about my Kellogg's Kards..........
When you hold up a 3-D card and look at it...it's vintage..Oh Yeah... BUT.... When you move it around a little, it becomes modern......Some kind of "Hocus Pocus" 3-D magic power, or something...
Not really sure "What" they are...Better ask THEGEMMINTMAN...He knows all......
I'll go with what PSA says is vintage....1971 and before....
BTW....Great "positive" post (thank you...)

You know what they say about Michigan women: "Nine out of 10 women from Michigan are good-looking. The 10th one goes to the U of M." (That's her picture directly to the left of this post.)

with the "vs" thing. I thought this was a good idea for a poll, too.
toppsgun-- crap. I thought for sure you mentioned you went to Michigan.
I must be losing it -- my bad. Didn't you say you were a fan? Hmmm...
