Beware of this eBay thief...

...no matter how many times I get this guy kicked off eBay he finds a way to come back as somebody else. This auction is from his collection of infamous 1960's reprints. They are the best fakes in the business. Heavy stock like real Goudey but the colors aren't as strong when you compare side by side with the real thing.

Wow! He states it is a reprint, puts it in a 1 day auction and this now tattered vg reprint is already at $60???
I wonder what PRO would grade this at? - I think this is the problem that GOSOX has w/ the auction...jay
  • I understand that. I'm alarming people to be are of this particular person because he doesn't alway mention that he is selling a reprint. I should've been more clear. In most cases he will cancel his auction before it ends if the bidding doesn't exceed his shill bids (which are always kept private).

He's just a shady guy so remember him. I have law a law suit against him for 9 months now for two 1934 Goudey's where he did not mention they were fakes. I bought them for over $900.

So your a "thief" if you sell a reprint with a 1 day auction?

No doubt its shady, but technically, what is this person doing wrong?

Oh ok. Now I get it.

Yeah, I would be p*ssed too then.

  • I have 29 buyers of his reprints in this suit with me against him. None of these 29 people knew they were buying reprints at the time. He used to go by the name sharkface2003. I'm just discouraged he still around. But at least he mentioned it's a reprint this time.

His most popular reprints are of the following issues:

    1933 Goudey
    1934 Goudey
    1933 DeLong
    T206
    1948 Bowman Basketball
    1935 National Chicle Football

So if you collect any of these issues what for him as he changes his name constantly. He has you send payment via paypal or to a P.O. Box. Paypal protects him well.

  • If I basically "lost" $900, I would be pi$$ed too! It's not a case of these sellers not knowing they are reprints, it's a matter of them trying to deceive a potential buyer. Another guy on EBay used sell a bunch of Cracker Jacks and 206's that "his grandfather's uncle's sister" gave to him (and playing dumb and not "knowing" if they were real or not).....Same crap as this auction. Anything to try to make a quick buck for some people I guess. By looking at this auction, he is somewhat successful....unfortunatelyimage

What has me alarmed about this auction, is that the card has been handled a bit to make it look authentic, and although the seller states it is a reprint. Why on earth would anyone pay $60 for it? Its a .50 cent card in mint condition. So be on the look out for this card in a PRO holder in a month or 2 w/ a nice EX/MT grade and $300-$400 in eBay bids image ...jay

He's getting very clever now. He is now stating he's listing it as a reprint and then states, "though it doesn't state 'reprint' anywhere on the card". So he manages to leave some hope on potential bidders that they may be getting the real thing without ever stating it might not be a reprint. However, could he be prosecuted for selling illegal reprints? legitimate reprints always state somewhere that they are such. This seems like a copyright infringement.

You raise a really good question about the intention of the seller:

<< <i>FRAUD OFFENSES - The intentional perversion of the truth (deception/trickery) for the purpose of inducing another person, or other entity, in reliance upon it to part with something of value or to surrender a legal right >>

It could be a fraudulent act if a person creates a situation where they are trying to get the confidence of another by getting that person to infer something that is not true. This is considered larceny by trickery. In this case the deception is that someone would infer that perhaps the item IS good and worth purchasing.
