Could use some help w/identification. German, maybe?

Hey all! I'm new here and not much of a coin collector outside of the fact that processing coin happens to be my job. I've found some very interesting coin and have been able to identify everything except the following..... unfortunately, I don't own a scanner so you'll have to bear with a verbal description.
The coin is copper, a fraction bigger than an american lincoln penny and half as thick. The obverse has a crown on the top with the letters "C" and "L" underneath, with the "C" over top the "L".
The reverse looks kinda like this:

*I*
HELLER
SCHEIDE
MUNTZ
1725

That's the best I can do. Basically all I really want to know is if it's a real coin, where it's from and ofcourse....... if it's worth anything. It's pretty worn, and has a couple minor dings on the outer edge but you can read everything, obviously.
Thanks for any help y'all can offer.

Gargoyle, a great big warm welcome to you! We hope you stick around.

I'm not very familiar with coins like that, but it is genuine (most likely!) and from Germany somewhere. Shortly, an expert will appear with a detailed answer to your question. I believe Tbirde56 will know.

Hesse-Cassel is where those nasty Hessian merceneries came from. (The ones George Washington had to defeat for our independence.) Hessian coins do periodically turn up in Revolutionary War archaeological sites, not surprisingly.

The coin, KM393, catalogs $7.00 in VG, as Don mentioned, $15.00 in Fine, $30.00 in VF, and $55.00 in EF. (According to my Second Edition Krause catalog.)

It is the first year that type was issued, and the type continued until 1730.
