ebay scammers are trying to improve their tactics!

bearcavebearcave Posts: 3,996 ✭✭✭✭✭
Today I received a email that was addressed to my ebay handle. Usually they are addressed to something like "Dear ebay user", but not this time.

Sent it to ebay and they say it's not from them. Be careful, I know everyone has heard this before, but this was the first one I had received made out to my handle.

  • I got one today as well that wanted an update with ALL my condindentail info INCLUDING SSN, DMV, BANK Account, Mothers Maiden Name and I almost filled it out as it stated I would be unable to continue bidding in 5 days if ZI didn't complete and send back. It looked real and still am not sure about it???

Send it to spoof@ebay.com and see what they say about it. BUT DON"T fill it out and send it back.

  • nemesis, don't worry about it. eBay will never ask for information from you that it didn't when you registered the first time. So DMV, SS, maiden names and such point out a scam.

Also, if you account would be suspended, you can always spot create a new one for a fast bid, and then hammer out the issue with the Bay later.
