Ken Matteson's HOF RC collection to be auctioned off...?

Here's the pretty phenomenal set

Here's the quote from SCD:

"One of the highlights is part one of complete 1961 Fleer Basketball set with all the cards graded PSA 9. There also will be part one of the PSA Set Registry’s No. 1-ranked post-World War Two rookie baseball card collection, including rookie cards of Mickey Mantle, Hank Aaron, Willie Mays and Sandy Koufax. "
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

    Marc-

Any rumors on which auction house it may be? That is one heck of a collection. There is not one ounce of fat in that collection...incredible!

    Superior Sports.

They're also auctioning off one or two other HOF RC that are no longer part of someone's collection.

Am curious to see if the auction would include both a PSA 9 and the PSA 10 Robin Roberts rookie.... That would almost seem like too much in one auction.

Do you know if it will be the Spring Auction or the National Auction?
  • Man, this is a heavy hitter set! Too bad there aren't some scans of these baby's on the Registry...

Spring auction. Catalogs should be available in less than two weeks.

Darn...I was hoping it would be for the Summer auction....it would give me time so save some scratch to make a play at one or two of the cards!

What do cards like that sell for? '48 Kiner in 10--wow.

    Thousands.

But I was leaning more towards the 60's and up.

  • Wow...that set is insane. Any guesses on what it could go for???

I would think that they would break that set up and sell the cards individually.
