Another story about bad customer service...........

I made my monthly trip "to town" because I had to go by the auctionhouse - and noticed the coin shop a couple doors down. (so that's where the auction gets all their crappy coins!).
As I pulled into the parking lot, I noticed 'the wife' glaring at me through the door. (Didn't see the old man.) As I got to the door, she said "can I help you", and I said "I just wanted to browse". She replied "what are you looking for", and I said that I wanted to look at the used coin books." (I was also planning on probably buying some coins too, but didn't go there because she was rather obnoxious.)
She then said "we don't have any - I have someone here cleaning my floors" --- and as I glanced over at the used coin books on the shelf - and then down at the dry floor . . . she said "oh you mean these?", and she grabbed a couple and brought them to the counter". And I said yes, and she went through a couple of them very hurriedly naming them off, and asked "which ones do you want"? - like DECIDE NOW!!!! and I replied, "I just wanted to browse". I was looking for the "old" books - and a few others I might have needed, but couldn't really remember ON DEMAND while someone was being so rude!
I was just caught off guard at her complete and total rudeness, and just said, "just forget it" and headed to the truck. I think I mumbled something about "you aren't going to make any money with that attitude!"
That was about the third time I had been in there, and she always seems to be her same rude self - whether "floors are being done" - or not. I have, however, been in there a couple of times, when she wasn't there, and her husband, seems to be a much more pleasant person.
She does not know me, and there were no other customers. The doors were open for business - it was about 12:30 PM. I would just like to say that's the last time, I will go to the downtown coin shop in Tyler, TX because of the RUDE WIFE. Thank you, forum, for letting me vent. She ruined my day. I started to go to the other coin shop, but guess I just 'lost the mood'.
Maybe she did me a favor, and saved me some money - but either/or, I just feel like if someone is going to have their doors open for business, then they should at least be civil to people who go to their shop! I bet her husband doesn't know she is so rude to his customers! She probably doesn't even know anything about coins.

Texas is known for its hospitality. It should not be hard to find it. You may even want to take a trip to Houston and visit Affordable Coins of Houston (Jbsteven). Not all of the coins will be affordable!, but at least he will let you look for as long as you like and he is not known for mopping the floors.
<< <i>This is the type of shop you would REALLY get the enjoyment of cherrypicking a coin and getting one over on her. Especially if she has no real coin knowledge and the old man hasn't already put a price on everything.
Absolutely worth giving it a shot!

on not mopping floors ..... just so happens, that I am heading Galveston way soon - Where are you located? If near 45, I may stop in and "browse".
The trouble is JB makes the customers mop the floors

PM me your plans on when you are coming through Houston.
I think I might know the dealer you are taking about. Does he ALWAYS wear a cowboy hat? Have you ever met the husband?
Edited to add: Leaving the mop at home!

<< <i> The woman responded "WHO IS THIS?". I told her my name (irrelevent) and said I was looking for some coin albums and holders (I didnt want to feel obligated to buy a coin).

You should have something like, "This is Hiram Wicks Wheathersby IV and I have recently sold the family's holding company and my tax lawyer says that I have to invest the $14 million from the sale and I want to invest some of the proceeds in rare coins."

If you decide to try the place again just walk in with a chip on your shoulder and tell her you want to see all of the damn coin books on the shelf. If the stuff is junk let her know about that also.
and they're cold.

<< <i>Neptune: Forget the mumbling! Open your mouth and tell her she is an obnoxious beeocch...be a man... you don't have to take that kind of treatment lying down! >>
Do that "after" picking out a raw mint state type II gold dollar from their stock and paying them ExF money for it. I did this myself waaaaaay back once upon a time in 79.
Thank you very much!
