Lawrence Ritter dies

Lawrence Ritter the author of the greatest baseball book ever written died.

If you like history or baseball or both, and have not read "The Glory of our Times," you are missing out.

Read a little about this book and you will certainly buy it.

Baseball lost a little bit of its history on Sunday.

Thanks go to Keith Olberman for putting it at the beginning of his show.

Thats one of my all time favorite books, a baseball classic!.
On public television many years back they had a hour telecast of the Glory Of Their Times, where they had old film clips & photos as a backdrop to the original interviews that Ritter had w/ Chief Meyers, Sam Crawford, Rube Marquard etc... I taped it off of the TV about 15 years ago, I'll try to find it and play it as a tribute to Ritter...jay

I actually have a few royalty checks from Lawrence Ritter to Rube Marquard, Edd Roush & Stanley Coveleski for their particaption in The Glory Of Their Times. The neat thing is, that because of this book many people got to know these ball players, and some were said to make the Hall Of Fame because of this publicity. Covelseski made it in '69 and Marquard in '71...jay

  • I once had a huge baseball card and memorabilia collection and sold it all because I became disillusioned with all the labor strife in the early 1990s. I sold all of my collection except for one book that I could not part with, "The Glory of Their Times." I'll be reading it again this week.

I'm sorry to be such a stickler, but please get the name of his book right.

    Thanks
