St Gaudins question

What would you buy, if given the opportunity? All Saint Gaudins.
1927 MS65 $1.100
1927 MS64 $750
1910 MS63 $500.

In other words, would you always get the higher grade, or choose the lower grade thinking it expands the market when you go to sell? Thanks

  • Would depend on the look, assuming I had the money to actually buy such a coin... if they were all of equal eye appeal and nothing distracting that really drew my eye, I'd get the 65, b/c of the higher grade... but again, depends on eye appeal, I'd pick the 63 over the 65, as long as the 63 had better eye appeal...

I would think the MS63 is the better buy. These are all common dates even in MS64 and MS65.The price may come down in the future for the MS64 and MS65.JMHO

  • With gold at $400, the $500 coin is a good value assuming it has the eye appeal. I buy every St Gauden I can under $750, because its intrinsic value is $400.

The MS63 for $500 is a great buy... but only if it's certified by one of the "real" grading services, or you know enough about gold coins to be able to recognize a fake.
    When in doubt, don't.
  • I would say the 63 at $500 as long as it was certified.
The strangest things seem suddenly routine.
  • Construct, Wow, Justin is feeling himself..... It's almost as exciting as buying that St. Gaudins. image
