An update on my Sweet Spot Classics case

After I pulled the Yogi AUTO and Clemente pants I've accounted for two more boxes of the Sweet Spot Classics that I've sold (a few I haven't heard anything on). The first box my roommate bought and was pretty ho-hum, it produced a Rizzuto Jersey #/50 and of course five of the fabricated patches that you guys love so much. The other box I just got a call from today and it produced a redemption for a Mike Schmidt Black AUTO, which I would guess has my Yogi beat since Scmidt seems to sign a lot less. I still contend that it's a good product and I didn't pull the top two cards in the case, Jason
Baseball Card Heaven, the closest card shop to the Las Vegas Strip.

Our current ebay auctions, and of course BaseBallCardHeaven.com

I watched a few guys bust about 6 boxes today....only produced two autos
one was Davie Johnson and other some guy ive never heard of. It seems like no product is
hotter now than Donruss diamond kings, one auto per 16 box case and 2 per super case.

    Joe-

You mean 1 true 1 of 1 per 16 box case...not just 1 auto. I busted 8 boxes and pulled a bunch of autos.

    yeah actually

    1 true 1/1 per 16 box case

    and

    3 true 1/1 per 32 count case

I opened a box and no auto...I also saw 3 other boxes busted and only one auto, so I guess it
    isn't guarenteed....

    John...what cards did you pull? I pulled a jersey/bat Lefty Carlton...nice card

    Joe-

Check out my eBay auctions from the last week....I listed all of my Diamond Kings right after I busted them open.

Some of the pictures have been deleted as the cards have been paid for (paypal) and shipped off already.

Oh Yea...I also pulled a George Brett Autograph True 1 of 1

    Joe-

I started the auction at $299 but ended it 2 hours into it when I was offered mid $450-500ish for the card. Another guy was emailed me after the fact and said he would of paid $950.00 for it. I told him he should of used the BIN for $599.00 and saved himself $300.00.

The SIG needs to be the focus in my mind

So did you sell it to the first guy or did you get the 950 for it? Thats quite a payday and from a product
that sells for under 80 bucks a box! Of course you bought more than that but dang!

Heritage is live! I can't wait until I start busting!

I sold the card for $450-500ish. The $950 guy did not email me till the next day..of course everyone talks big after the card is sold. He did have a bid of $299 at the time...but if no one bids against him...he gets it for a song.

Gotta take the sure thing. With all of my other ebay auctions and after all ebay, paypal and postage expenses I made approx $200.00 busting the 8 boxes. (I got them for $67 a piece)

  • Is this the Diamond Kings product you pulled from?

Yes, the autograph of Berra or Schmidt is nice, but what if you open two boxes, get 1 autograph, and it is Roger Craig? Sweet Spot Classics has a huge downside risk.

brian - yes, but is there any company other than Upper Deck with such a high percentage of high end products with a great risk of serious loss?

  • Hey Jason:

I opened my first DK today and was totally bored by it; first, unlike you and your honest shop, you can't trust my local dealer who I know breaks wax, so when I see 5 boxes on the shelf I start wondering if these are the leftovers. I think the "short-printed" 1/1 is totally bogus as well and that everyone will catch up to this. The cards were unmemorable except for an Alexis Rios auto numbered to 200...ho hum. I have 8 of his 2002 Donruss Elite and thats the real R.C.

However, I LOVED the Sweet Spot! I opened 5 boxes and got 4 autos by picking randomly from 12 boxes just placed on the shelf so I certainly beat the odds. I like the fabricated Mike Schmidt Phillie patch and I got a game-used "real" patch of Bert Blyleven who you never see. My autos were a black ink Carlton Fisk, a Stan Musial, Yogi Berra and Dave Winfield numbered to only 25 !

Winfield doesn't sign too often so I think that card might have some value.

Anyway, since your thread was hijacked, I thought I'd say you were right about Sweet Spot.

Id hate to be the other guy opening 7 boxes of sweetspot for 120 a pop and getting just two
autos! I would be willing to bet my collection that 900 bucks in diamond kings would get
    you more autos than that!

You did very well on your sweetspot....did you look at the numbers on the boxes before you opened?

From what I have seen sweetspot has been a bust...even beckett slammed it! You have to
when a box that costs 70 bucks is blowing away a box that cost 120.

LOL Rios auto #ed to 200..what junk! Better trade it to me.
