Another eBay Auction Ended Early - WTF?

With the recent eBay sale of a 1968 Gates Brown PSA 9 for $760, I thought it was worth watching (and maybe bidding on) a raw MINT 1968 Gates Brown that was up this week, with the auction ending today. Last night, the high bid was $31.00 but today I see that the auction was ended early with that nebulous "Item is no longer available for sale" line. The seller's ID is vintagethings4youvintage. The card was going well over book value, so what do you suppose happened?

Someone probably made him an off-line offer he couldn't refuse...jay

So I guess I feel lucky my bids weren't allowed to run to conclusion. . .

If a group of us came up with enough cards that we could send to you for free, could we entice you to change that icon? That hurts my eyes.
I know that you and Dude live near each other, but there's no reason to use his picture as your icon.

I'm with Wayne. That picture reminds me of one of those really bad striper bars where you give the girl $5.00 just to put her shirt back on. I will pitch in a card or two if you will make that go away.

"It is acceptable for sellers to end a listing early in order to sell an item at the current bid price to the high bidder. Bidders are permitted to contact sellers with requests to end a listing early; however, sellers are under no obligation to do so."

Ken,
I can't tell you how many times I've given a chick $10 the stay away for me for the night. In that stirit I pledge cards as well.
