If You Had A Ton of Post-1970 Raw Hi Grade Cards ...

If you had a large quantity of post-1970 high grade Topps baseball cards, from all years, and you wanted to maximize resale value by getting them graded as 8's, 9's and 10's -- Which year would you start with? And why?

1971: sensitive black borders, plenty of low pops as far as PSA 9s go, very few 10s.

Seems like one of the safer bets with high grade 70s.
  • LOL! OK, I guess that was probably too easy, so let's exclude 1970 (gray borders) and 1971 (black borders) and go with 1972 and up -- same question.

I wouldn't start with a particular year. I'd comb through the pop reports and submit the ones with the lowest pops. A PSA 8 could go for $4 or $150 for any year in that range you specified. The only difference is whether it is the toughest or easiest card in the set to find in high grade.
