I am so depressed!

As many of you know, I sold off my whole collection a few years ago when I got laid off or work. I figured a paid off house and cars were worth more than a collection of coins. Well today I was looking through Heritage's website and found that My Collection is still listed. So I though I would share what would have been If I hadn't gotten laid off... This was right before I bought the 1895 in a PCGS PR62!

I looked at the Lincoln cents and the Morgan Dollars and almost cried!

  • Don't be too depressed, Marty. At least you got to sell them. Some people have their collections stolen--now that's depressing.

It's only money. Wait till the crash in a year, or two or three and you can buy it back cheaper and start all over again.

Nice coins Marty, but I suspect that paying off your debts was the right move.

Congrats for owning such a great set.

  • MadMarty, Look at it this way...you had them at a good time when you needed them...they kept the Bank and the tax man off your back...they really did prove their purpose....One day maybe you will own them again and maybe able to upgrade them....I know how you feel....You made a very good investment with them and time proved it....
  • Marty,

I hope I'm as successful at finding a new career as you have been.

I'm exploring my options for going to school later this year, but if I have to sell more of my collection in the mean time I can live with that.

The President claims he didn't lie about taxes for those earning less then $250,000 a year with public mandated health insurance yet his own justice department has said they will use the right of the government to tax when the states appeals go to court.
  • I can understand how Marty is feeling. I have sold off parts of my collection this past year making ends meet. It sucks to lose your job and then have all the work and effort you put into your coins get second rate returns. Wow i guess it would suck even more when you see what they are asking as opposed to what they paid for them. Marty you will always have a friend in me .

  • Marty, don't be sad. Each one of those coins will find a good "home". Maybe with you again. Life is ever changing and we've got to roll with the punches. God bless.
  • Well, at least you are smart enought to know what is most important in life - and that's not material possessions. Thank goodness you had them to sell when you needed the money for your family. We are in the process of trying to pay our land off, and would like to do it this year. I told my DH and son, that I wanted to sell my collection, but that if I did, I would probably just start over again. Glad things worked out for you - cheer up and save for a special coin, just in case you ever need to do that again! image
  • Trading stocks, I NEVER look at a stock I sold. For this reason exactly.

Dont Worry Marty...this happens to everyone in some way or another. Life is too short.
