    tHIS IS ACTUALLY A HUGE QUESTION FOR CARD COLLECTORS. How many people invested in jersey card's auto card's and all #d card's, that were #d 3/?? his unifrom # now they wont hold value anymore. plus people sitting on lets say he were's #6 have the cards 6/?? they are about to hit payday. i have to flip through all my arod cards now.

    I mean he is the highest paid
    player in the game! so why not
    make him #1

    also, mantle was originally 6 and later changed to 7....

    I believe when they retire a number it means that it won't be used agian.
    Not sure, just a wild guess.

    I own a Steiner 1998 Yankee Autographed bat limited to 125. It's #33. I wonder if it will go up in value if AROD takes #33? NOT

    Or maybe like Dennis Rodman he could wear some number that adds up to 3, though that limits him to 21, I guess. Is Giambi 12?

    When I first heard of this story I couldn't believe it. Back when he was a free agent, I joked with a Yankee fan/dealer at a show by telling him that not only the Yankees had signed A-Rod and moved him to third, but they also traded Orlando Hernandez to Boston for Nomar to play second. The guy believed me up to the second part. Now that basically half of that has come true, and Nomar's a free agent soon, it could happen. The $100 Million infield.

    maybe it was the Albany or Oneonta sqaud......anyways..I think this thread is out of gas.
