Wayne, I want to thank you for the link to the news stories.

Polish people have proven their bravery on many occasions in battlefields all across Europe and America for over 1000 years. Who can forget how Koscuisko helped Washington defeat the British; without his help, America would surely have lost the war. The Battle of Monte Cassino was brutal, and the memorial statue in a park in Warsaw,to those soldiers killed there, brought tears to my eyes the first time I saw it.

Well, I thought even if it was not a coin topic, it was on topic. I also like coins from Poland.

Not just Kosciusko, but Pulaski, too. Casimir Pulaski is the big name in these parts. In fact, he gave his life for American independence. Pulaski was mortally wounded in the Revolutionary War battle for Savannah.

Later, there was a fort named for him, which is now a part of the National Park Service. Fort Pulaski, when held by the Confederacy, was a part of the Civil War battle over Savannah and is an interesting place to visit, because it got hammered by Federal naval guns, and you can still see a number of shells imbedded in the walls!

We have a Pulaski Highway about 5 minutes from where I live.

When I lived in Alabama, there was Pulaski Pike. Now, I live right off Pulawska (Pulaski) Blvd.

Both I and Tlhoy live in Pulaski counties (VA & AR). I also live in the town of Pulaski.

That was without a doubt one of the bloodiest battles that should never have been fought. It stands, however, as testimony to the fighting prowess of the men on both sides ... but not to the command skills of the allied generals.
