Do not tear it apart by hand! I tore a PCI holder apart with my hands and it ripped the skin off my finger! Use a pair of pliers and "chip" off the plastic all the way around and lift the top off (if you don't have a hammer).

As written by lordmarcovan earlier today:

<< <i>Easiest crackout ever. We were staying in a condo for the show, and I went out on the deck, stuck the slab between two boards on the porch, where it was standing upright, then pushed it forward with my shoe. Crrrrack! First-ever crackout-by-penny-loafer! >>

A hammer is the fastest way. Place a towel so something soft on a table or hard floor. Place the slab on end and hit it with the hammer near the label end on the slab (not the coin end). It will crack the halves and you can pull them apart.

One person suggested using a dremel to saw away the outside edges. It sounds like a great idea. I'm going to try it next time I have a need to crack out an item.
