You have it all wrong, that's a Trammell rookie . It's laying crooked in the holder obviously, which seems to be accentuating a minor diamond cut. Looks nice otherwise.
is it just me or are there tiny grease spots on the bottom right of the card? other than that the centering seems good and no big smudge like lots of these cards have
it just hit ebay TRAMMELL ROOKIE i just thought other than the cut of the card the big old mark on the holder kind of had me scratching my head. i know its not a recently graded but it just doesn't look like 10 material to me.

Man, if you're going to sell a Gem-Mint 10 rookie of any significant player, at least take the time to center the card in the holder. There is nothing wrong with that card. Joe T needs to fire whoever scanned that card for him - it will probably cost him some cash in the end.
This card is way out of my price range regardless, but I wasn't 100% sold on the left-to-right centering, although on second examination and accounting for the holder position it might be better than I was giving it credit for the first time. In terms of just how this one impresses me I've seen a couple of stronger 9s that I liked just as much, though it's still nicer than many 9s I've seen.

Not a bad looking card from here.I appreciate the seller's not taking the holder and shaking the card into place inside the holder. He could have had it reholdered but probably doesn't want to put more money into it.
I once handed my father a graded Rookie card of Roger Clemens and the card was not in position like this so he tapped the holder on his hand as I screamed Noooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and rest assure there was a dinged corner.
I just copied the scan and blew it up for measurement and detail.
The centering is about 48/52 left/right and about 56/44 top/bottom, a very minor trace of the famous smudge? appears above the s in shortstop. Any scan and program is subject to shading, brightness, dust specks, and other variances, but can provide some help in a non in-person view of the card. I assume (hope) the card will straighten up its position in the holder if tapped gently.
If I might ask, since the famous smugde is involved in this thread........ in the following year, Topps # 11 Marc Hill has a similar smudge in a comparable spot, no red, just black I believe. Not even one copy of this common 1979 card has even been sent in to PSA, let alone have a 9 or 10 exist. Anyone ever see one clean and in good shape, perhaps worthy of an 8 or 9 ???
This aint no party,... this aint no disco,.. this aint no fooling around.
Did jt used to work for PSA? It would certainly explain a lot (like one of his Ebay names), and perhaps might give some insight into all of his top graded cards coming from PSA and now apparently, GAI.
The Trammell rookie card is just a plain nightmare. If you happen to find one without the smudges, it will often be OC or miscut. This one looks slightly tilited to me, but is really not a bad looking version, and I've looked at a lot of them over the years.
What are your guesses on the final price? I'm thinking at least $1000, maybe $1300.
Collecting all graded Alan Trammell graded cards as well as graded 1984 Topps, Donruss, and Fleer Detroit Tigers
I've seen two PSA 10s and 1 SGC 98 (to the best of my recollection) come up since I started using eBay. Again to the best of my recollection, all three sold in the $2000-$2500 range. It will be interesting to see how this one compares.

I have a slew of these and most of them have ink blotches all over the bottom of the card.
