How can you tell how coins toned? i.e. album or roll

Mint set toning has always been obvious to me. But, how can one tell the difference between end roll toning or album toning?

Thanks. Richard.

You can usually see a ghostly image of the paper having been folded over on end roll toning.

However, as far as differentiating album toning from roll toning (not the same as "end roll toning"), that can be tough. Both types exhibit what is refered to as Target Toning, but it usually looks better on album toned coins. Roll toned coins usually have much deeper toning near the rims relative to their centers as compared to album toned coins.

You kinda gotta see it to understand. And even then, I don't believe you can be 100% certain.
