Hello,
I have a penny folder (He Harris & Co.) starting 1975 that im filling for the kids(they think it's cool stuff). I ran across the 1982 and 1982-D Large date and Small Date and Copper an Zinc. I figured out the large date and small date ( very simple) but haven't quite figured out the weights yet. How do I know this? I had some 1936 pennies I took down to the coin shop because I read in the Red Book that some had Double Die Errors. I took these to him to have them checked because I didn't know exactly what to look for. Bad for me, none turned out to be doubled But, he complimented me for picking up on this( he knows I'm a beginning collector). I also asked him how to tell the diff between the copper and the zinc and he told me to weigh a copper one against a newer penny. The copper should be heavier.
What is the weight of a copper penny? What is the weight of a Zinc one? He was busy that day so he didn't have much time to answer all of my Q's which is O.K. because I knew I could always come here.
I have another penny folder '41-'74 and I'm missing a few pennies in it. If ya got them laying around or whatever lemme know. This penny folder is not Part of MY collection , it's for the kiddies ,so they dont have to be Like DCam Stashed in a Glass box and desired by all LOL!.
