bank wrapped rolls??????

Does this auction bother anyone else? When I see a nice tight roll I like to think it is original. Joe

    Joe,

It is easier to tell by the paper used than the ends. Check to see if the paper colors, brands and patterns match the year of issue.

The auction is unscrupulous, but the crimper works great. Did a mess of quarters with one last week.

cladking, yes, I know. I wrote it about a year ago and there are several things I've come across since that I should update, including the Mint now selling nickels by the roll.

  • Wayne, Please update. I learned more in your link than I ever learned anywhere else. And as I own 29 different memorial bags, I'd better start to learn something. Steve
  • Yes, that was very interesting and informative!

  • Thanks Wayne, great site and information.

    Question for you or anyone.

Since the U.S. Mint rolls of state quarters are sent out and processed, are bags of state quarters processed at the mint; and do they have a slightly better chance of being in better condition?

    Thanks,
    Lightside

Can anyone answer the above post question?

It's a complicated question. Theoretically the bags have one less processing step so might
be better but they are not so well protected in the bag as in the rolls. Everytime you here a
clink as bags or coins are moved there will be another tiny tick somewhere. There is relatively
little damage inflicted in wrapping coins generally.

It is far more important in most cases to locate a good bag or a good roll than whether it's a
    bag or a roll.

I agree with cladking on this. If you get the bag quickly (before it shakes around a lot) it may be better. Otherwise, the rolls will generally be better.

I hope I was not the cause!

oreville, well, since you haven't opened them, I guess you could return them for a refund. Or, why don't you sell them back to me? I'd also like to get back that 1954 Wheat roll I sold you. I'd pay you double. Heck, even triple. Sell me the whole bunch and I'll give you 4X for them?

wayne: Oh yes, that obw roll of 1954 cents. I need to save that for the year 2029 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the 1954 coinage!!!

I have three others too!! I did not want any of them to be lonely. image
