Balco fallout ?

As a holder of many Bonds rookie and auto cards I was distressed to see the Balco indictments announced yesterday.

It was my feeling that his cards, always great sellers, would see a decrease in value with the fallout over Balco.

Considering that NO PLAYER was indicted and many were called to testify to the Grand Jury, including Bonds, I don't feel you will see players brought in.

However, is damage done to Bonds card's value or will they still take off with the season's first HR and passing of Mays to #3 on the all-time HR list?

  • Hey Bum! I guess it depends when Mr. Bonds takes the stand. Hopefully it's after he smacks out # 661 at least so I can cash in a bit. If he ever admits to steroids, his cards will tumble a bit. As much as I hate to say that, it's probably true. I still don't think he ever took any, but what do I know. I don't think that he got HUGE overnight though. He was skinny when he first started, but he has been in the league for like 18 years now. That's a long time to get big if you have the right trainer and a vigorous off season work out program like I always here he has.

I will be upset if he actually took some though. Steroids HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH PUTTING THE BAT ON THE BALL THOUGH. He hit .372 or so 2 years ago and that was pretty damn impressive. Especially when we all know that he gets 2-3 hittable balls every game. What does your power have to do with getting a single? He has one of the fastest swings I have ever seen on a player, and he can adjust in a millisecond to hit any ball thrown at him. Down low, up and in, outside, etc.. he definitely has become a better hitter. That's where I don't think people give him enough credit.

Well, I am getting a bit thirsty on this young Friday night. I may be ready to tip a few. Let's all meet at Buddy's down the street. First round is on me.

7 MVP awards, the single season HR record, career walks record, single season walks record, 700HR/500SB, and two batting titles near 40 years old. How can one argue that those aren't stats of the greatest to ever play the game??? All this and there is still more to come!!!! Bonds:2005 NL MVP. Or are you going to doubt him again?
  • Bonds is an intelligent man. i doubt he would take steroids. he has a vigorous offseason workout regimen, and a very admirable work ethic. until it is proven otherwise, he is a steroid free, certified badass.

  • why are you worried about holding onto Bonds autos??? his autos rise in value both on ebay and in beckett every month or every other month...I'd keep holding 'em...especially since he will no longer have mainstream cards for a while
  • Hey Roach & Will...lets all meet at "Buddy's" one day...round Two is on me !
