I Think I Found Some 1964-D DDO Kennedy Half Dollars

WWWWWW Posts: 2,609 ✭✭✭
I finally broke down and unwrapped a double bank-wrapped roll of 1964-D Kennedy half dollars
that I've had for some time now, and much to my surprise, I found several of these which appear
to me as being DDO's. I've added an image in the hopes that one of our esteemed Kennedy experts
will be able to confirm my suspicions. BTW: Each one has the same die polish mark touching the T in Trust.

Yes, without a doubt a doubled die...unfortunately, however, there are many different ones for the date and mint, most of which are rather common.

  • There is only one listed in Wiles' book "The Kennedy Half Dollar Book" which is the DMR-2, and that doesn't appear to be it.....Ken

I have three or four different ones, and none of the ones I have are published, nor do they appear to match what is shown in this thread.

Actually there are 15 that I count referenced in Wiles book. Great pics BTW. Could you put up a pic of the Y in Liberty and the 4 in the date?

    Thanks,
    Don

Too funny Ken. I know what you mean. It's 0-beer-thirty by my clock. Cheers!

I think PCGS will even designate it on the slab as a Double Die.
They don't say which of the 15 or so varieties,....just that it is a Double Die.

    Good Job!image

Sure looks like DMR-4, although it's really too hard to tell without the coin in hand. The description is as follows: (Dr.Wiles)

"Silver Business Strike. Medium spread on WE TRUST; date, designers initials, TY of LIBERTY, and light spread on IN GOD"

    URS 6

Thanks for the pic. I like the placement of the die scratches.
