Well, Mitch, you couldnt buy my set... so you put together your own and now pushed me to #5 on the all time finest proof silver washingtons.
well done.
It was nice being #1 for a while, but it has been agony watching my all time finest place drop to #4 and now #5. no doubt I'll be off the front page soon. But the memories will remain, along with the print out of when I was #1 and the PCGS registry book from a couple of years ago that showed it #1.
Of course, Quattrocoins is feeling more pain than I am... but his day will come!!
Ive abandoned proof silver washingtons -- theyre in the past for me. now Im going for (oops, almost tipped my hand).
cheers, alan mendelson

You were a pioneer of the proof Wash quarter Registry and should be very proud of it.
I have always loved Proof Wash quarters myself (through 1971 actually). When I slabbed the 1950 quarter in PCGS-PR68DCAM a few years ago, I had a decision to make in terms of whether I wanted to build a possible #1 set around that coin or not. Rick T. bascially made me an offer I couldn't refuse for the coin and that was that. I've tried to make other pop 1 coins, such as the 1951 in 67DCAM and when coins such as my PR67CAM fail to work for DCAM, I at least feel better knowing it is part of the Registry set.
I also slabbed a couple PR68 coins from the 1936-42 era recently, but they fell into collectors' hands. If pops continue to rise on those, I may just add a couple to my set as prices seem to come way down once the pop breaks through 3 or so.
Eventually a top set may also likely be sold and some neat coins will come to market.

I knew that it was just a matter of time. Maybe you can bring some "respect" to the series.
It seems it has lost some since Alan cashed in all them '70s!
I'm still tied with you, Alan. But one more upgrade....
Again, Congrats on a set, Mitch

DCAM Washies and
IMHO, there are some real good (select) values out there right now in the 1950-1971 Wash quarter DCAM series. The series is hardly being "promoted" these days and eager sellers are, quite frankly, letting some coins go far below levels I would say "bye-bye" to the coins (which is why my holdings of them has grown). But, one must be selective as quality does vary TREMENDOUSLY from coin to coin. Price is NOT the only factor.

Actually, at least the proof quarter set is deemed "closed" at 1964. I have a real problem personally with the Lincolns. For example, I recently bought the coolest 1961 Lincoln in PCGS-PR69DCAM I have ever seen - only problem is it fits in no registry set I can build that doesn't require me to go out to year 2004 and always be "one grade under" because I have -0- interest in proof (non-error) Lincolns dated after the mid-1970's and labeled PR70.
