Breakin' In

What is the best method to crack a proof set? I have a lincoln cent with great target toning. Before you ask for a picture, all I have is a crappy old digital camera that is pretty bad at close up shots. I'd like to break out the cent and submit it. I live pretty close to ANACS. If I took the whole set there, do you think they would crack and slab it for me? Or do you think I should wait the 3 months to send it to PCGS? I'm not sure if toned modern lincoln proofs are worth anything, but I love the way it looks and want to preserve it.

The easiest way is to place a sharp awl in the middle of the case and
slam it in with your hand. Set it off to the side of the half dollar and be
sure not to hit any coins. Wear safety glasses as the plastic can fly at
very high speeds and is very sharp. Usually the plastic will separate
    quite easily with minimum effort.
