Your signature line

Just curious what people's purpose is for putting the sets they collect on their signature line. I'll create a poll for this to track answers more easily.
I was just thinking- for as long as I've had my signature, no one has emailed me saying "Hey Andy! I noticed that you collect 1950 Bowmans in PSA 5. I just found some on so-and-so's website. You should check it out".... obviously we all check eBay so there's no need to reference that site. Vintage stuff in stores is extremely hard to come by anymore so it's not likely that people will be able to see anything in their local stores.
I wonder if it'll make more sense to list specific cards (1-4 so it doesn't clutter the line) - that way, for these big shows (ie. Fort, etc) people can be on the look out for fellow board members (and hopefully not try and make a buck off of us!)
What do you guys think?

would be to represent the set I collect, let others know what I collect
in case they might have cards I need, and also to simply "show off"
some of the cool cards that can be found in my set (although the images
aren't specifically my cards).
You should use your sig area for whatever you see fit. You can always
change it later, so maybe you could experiment and see what works for
you.
edited to add: if you're down to a few cards left in a given set, I
think it's a great idea to list the ones you need.

Unlike the SGC site you can't upload an image stored on your computer, e.g., a .jpg. You need to provide a link to a site that houses your image (see profile screen.) It should look like this: Whatever you want to put there has to be hosted on a website or picture hosting website.
In regard to icons, you can upload your own on the 15th of every month or use one from the CU database.
Great topic. As you can see I have had the same problem that you have experienced. That is the reason I changed my signature line.

on the size. I'm not sure what they are, but if it's too big they'll
let you know. Here's how you do it:
1. Go to the testing forum.
2. post a new topic and down at the bottom click on "attach files".
3. this will open a new window, which allows you to upload your image.
4. after uploading, select the image on the list of files uploaded &
click on attach.
5. post the message (you need a subject line & text in the body, too)
6. click on your new topic. Down at the bottom of your post is the
attachment. Click on it. This goes to the page where your image is.
7. Now you have the link to your image stored on the CU site, which you
can copy and add to your profile. That should do it.

I think you should include advertisements for TV shows to signature line.

Picture size is a function of two parameters--the resolution (pixels per inch), and the total number of pixels in the picture. The file size is only a function of the number of pixels. Thus, a low resolution picture will appear larger than a high resolution picture with the same file size. Your sig pic probably has low resolution compared to the average picture file.

especially if it is an Important one like mine!
<< <i>CW...... I get to the list of files, and I highlight my file and click attach, but nothing happens after that. >>
I see that you got it working. Most photo editing software allows you
to resize an image and make it smaller. I use Corel and the feature
is called "resample".
JEB, I can see your side of it, too. Sometimes people overdo it with
big pictures. You might know what everyone collects, but we get new
people here every day. Others might only check in every couple weeks.
If my little banner gets just one person interested in collecting the
'55 AA set (or any football set for that matter) than it's worth it.
I think sigs can also add a little color & personality to the boards,
as long as they're kept small. Now if we're talkin' chicks in bikinis,
than maybe bigger is better!
