Wow! I Am Now #1 In MS Kennedy Half Dollars (Varieties)!!

Well, at least for a few hours as the Richard Green set drops to #3 due to a coin being removed.

Isn't it amazing how much one loses for a 99% completed set. Just a single coin out of the near perfect RG set drops him down to 3rd place!

By the way, has anyone else noticed that the MS Kennedy Half Dollars series has really started to heat up again this year? And, check out how scarce the late date coins are in high grade. Just -2- MS68's from Denver in 2003. No Denver MS68 yet for year 2000! Just -1- MS69 clad Kennedy ever graded MS69 and I have never heard about it, nor did #1 have it last time he opened up his set.

Are you sure the MS69 coin was graded MS69? (What else would it be graded?) image

Dbldie: Surely you know it could be graded other things - how about PR69? How about a 2001 Commem half in MS69 entered wrong, etc. Just look at the (8) 1982(d) Kennedy half dollars in MS68 - I would be stunned if truly -2- coins existed, perhaps less. I believe most, if not all, are simply GW silver half Commems.

Congratulations Wondercoin. Even if the ranking is temporary the effort, cost, and time to
    get to this are substantial.

The Kennedys are a really neat set and is really getting extensive.

    dbldie55: I know. image

CK: Thanks. The set is getting to be costly these days. The top set is, no question, already a "six figure" set. I have a long way to go!

    Wondercoin,

Congratulations Mitch- great accomplishment on a fun set!
One area I admire about Richard's set is he continues to UPGRADE even within the same grade. He's not satisfied with, say an MS67 if it isn't the finest MS67 and he'll continue to search for top notch coins even though they don't raise his overall score.

Richard's a great guy with a fantastic Kennedy set. I've seen some of his "lesser" grade MS 67 coins and they are VERY nice. I haven't seen all his top grade coins yet but I can bet you when viewed in whole it would knock your socks off if you're a Kennedy collector. If you're not one yet, you'd still be awed by how clean, bright and well struck his coins are. If you've ever searched for high grade Kennedys, you'll really appreciate an MS 68. Perhaps someday he might show his top notch set at one of the shows so we can all enjoy them. My hat's off to him. Mitch, you have a very nice set too. It will be very hard to get much better as Richard has virtually every POP 1 and POP 2 coin.
You only live life once, enjoy it like it's your last day. It just MIGHT be!
