Best way to insure coins sent to Canada

I have a $300 coin and a $960 package of coins which I would like to send to Canada. I wish to send both of these insured to Canada. What is the best way to do this? Thanks.

    Registered mail, if possible.

You can only insure for $200 to Canada with the USPS so someone will have to accept the risk of loss or maybe you could split the coins up into smaller packages? Registered is good but for international use the post office says they really can't help much if it gets lost. mike
  • You can also send insured (to $675.00) air parcel post.
Try working through the USPS calculator for the solution that suits you best.

Registered mail to Canada has a maximum indemnity of $1,000.00. I have sent many packes over $200 to Canada. The problem is with Canadian customs. The person receiving the package has to pay a duty tax that is very stiff.

I think the max for registered is $200. I don't know if I would trust it ant other way? mike
  • You might consider private company insurance. Airplanenut posted a link the other day to a company that he uses U-pic.com Here is a link to their rates. U-pic rates

Sorry that seems to be for their regular customers, I think this one is the rates for occaisional On-line users. On-line rates

You might check with Airplanenut and see what he pays and how happy he is with them.
