HEEELP!Another ?? On Postal Insurance

I went to my main P.O. today to claim $33 on postal ins.Talked to the head guy on the matter.Every thing was hunky-dory until I told him what was insured.Ten consecutive 63B Barr notes. He grimaced a little and stated "the most the P.O. will pay on any ins claim for currency OR coins is $15"!!?!He could'nt even tell me the correct way to insure and claim an item so that it would pay entire amount.I'll be taking an $18 bite on this. Not a biggie but would like to know what to do in the future. From what I could gather you can pay $1.30 or more all day long for ins but if it was currency or coins the most you'll get back on claim is $15.Is this correct??Have any of you claimed and recieved more than $15??If so how do you correctly purchase ins for currency and coins??Thanx in advance! image

He's wrong. If you have a proof of value, you get the collectable item's value... that's what insurance is for.

They won't honor a claim on cash, current cash. You have to state that it is a 'collectible'! Had a lot of trouble once even insuring the pak, until we spoke the 'collectible' word. Go figure.
  • Yes, I would follow up on that - maybe go to USPS.com and see what you can find out. I would think that guy is wrong reindeer.
